the Garden

Designed to bring a traditionally rural program into the urban setting, catalyzing new and unexpected repercussions to the urban fabric. A vertical winery would allow gravity to naturally move the process in an already vertical setting. This project will challenge the shifting ideas of wine making, beginning as a completely uncultured rural process and proposing an urban, cultured process. This idea of culture and ritual brings forth a strong connection to shared meals, with family and friends; therefore an epicurean based winery. Epicurus was an ancient Greek philosopher and founder of the school of philosophy called Epicureanism, the purpose was to attain the happy, tranquil life and by living a self-sufficient life surrounded by friends. Epicurus' school was thus called "The Garden”.
