the Headlands | Thesis Site Analog

Castoffs and found pieces make up this analog, a representation of essences of my site; the Marin Headlines.  The raw edged walnut, left purposefully unprocessed symbolizes the ruggedness of the place.  Weathered by wind, sun and fog, the site and the analog share the same sense of resiliency and austerity.  The sharp angle is a representation of the steepness of the site and the penetration of the steel rods depicts the military installations.   The historic shelters peak out of the hillsides, just hinting at the network within, similar to the placement of the rods.  The wax is a physical representation of time, internal transformation and of the occupant’s journey.
